Longhorns' Latest

The extra-long Thanksgiving weekend allowed us much time to reflect and give thanks, and the Thomas B. Conley School is something for which to be thankful.  The close-knit community that has developed over the years allows for a multitude of positive experiences for everyone and I am happy to be a part of it. From dedicated staff to engaged students and caring families, our school community is nothing short of wonderful.

This autumn the teachers and staff have been working hard to teach each of our students what they need to succeed in school and in life.  Because the few years between early childhood and adulthood are fraught with anxiety about social, academic and physical issues, it is important to help our students manage them with ease.  Our teachers have been doing just that. They have assisted our 230 Pre K through 5th graders discover and develop their exceptional skills, interests and individual identities.

Each student is an individual with his or her own interests and competencies and the teachers are committed to encouraging them to take risks and engage in learning in order to help them discover their passions and strengths.   From a varied curriculum, the support of family and extensive extracurricular activities, our students are exposed to new experiences every day. Athletics, music, the arts, clubs, and leadership are some of the ways, outside of class, our children can and do excel. The more we provide them with opportunities to succeed and the routines and stability to do so, the better they are able to focus on positive behaviors, achievement, and self-awareness.

Enjoy your children and have a wonderful winter,

Jane F. Smith, Principal
