Longhorns' Latest

The 2019-20 school year is well underway and so far it has been wonderful. This week is designated by the state of New Jersey as a Week of Respect.  By working continuously to foster a culture of respect at Conley School we will do our part to ensure that our students grow both academically and emotionally and the culture and climate of Thomas B. Conley School one of learning and respect for all of our children.

Our Conley students are 3 to 10 years old and are  acquiring the skills to socially navigate their environment.  Learning the parameters of social interactions and how to communicate respectfully takes work and both children and adults make mistakes. As caring educators and parents, it is our job to be role models for our children; to show empathy and understanding even when mistakes are made.  The more we can encourage and praise empathy, respect and kindness when we see it, the more it will occur.

To start a year-long theme of RESPECT we will kick off this week with the following activities:

  • Monday, October 7Stomp Out Bullying– Please wear your school’s colors or spirit wear to show your school pride.

  • Tuesday, October 8“Respect is No Sweat” – Please wear your favorite sweatshirt.

  • Wednesday, October 9 –“Mix it Up Day!” Wear mismatch clothing to show we are all unique in our own way and we should appreciate and respect our differences.

  • Thursday, October 10 “Super Hero Day – Helping Everyone Respect Others” – Please wear a super hero shirt. Conley School is full of HEROES who are Helping Everyone Respect Others!

  • Friday, October 11 -“We are all part of a team” - Please wear your favorite team’s shirt or Bethlehem Township shirt.

Have a terrific autumn.

Respectfully,

Jane F. Smith

Principal
